This is a workshop (not a test) for those who want to work toward getting their dog’s Canine Good Citizen certificate from the AKC. Any dog can work toward a CGC, even dogs not registered with the AKC. This workshop will last approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and will be an overview of the test items and how to train for each test item so that, after the workshop, you have a clear understanding of the CGC test and what you need to work on with your dog to pass the test in the near future. More information on the test items for the CGC are on the AKC’s website. We will also talk about the AKC’s advanced level of the CGC – AKC Community Canine.

Only ONE dog per person please, so if you have two dogs you want to bring, you need two people.

Bring with you:

• Safe, secure equipment for your dog (Special training equipment such as choke chains, pinch collars and head collars are not permitted in the CGC test. The leash should be made of either leather or fabric. Retractable leashes may not be used in the test.).
• Your dog’s brush
• Your dog’s vet records
• Poop bags to pick up after your dog
